Time To Blossom - Yeojwacheon Stream, Jinhae

여좌천 Yeojwacheon Stream in Jinhae is known as one of the best local spots for 벚꽃 cherry blossoms. The whole town is adorned with the beautiful white trees for a few weeks each spring.
There is usually a Cherry Blossom Festival, but, Covid. That did not stop us from going to check out the blossoms, though.

The bridge in the background is called Romance Bridge. There was a K-drama filmed here, and the couple met on 'Romance Bridge.' The name stuck.
This is the view while standing on the bridge.
If you like octopus, there is plenty to buy from street vendors.
After the hit show Squid Game, more vendors are selling 달고나 dalgona. The honey comb candy was used in an episode. The candy was created during the Korean war when food was scarce; sugar and baking soda are the only ingredients. It was a popular street snack in the 70s and 80s. There is a game that challenged one to remove the inner shape without breaking it.
At night there are bright lights along the stream, like this heart.
It is quite common in Korea to see murals painted on the walls
These trees are similar to weeping willows. They are called 맥몬동 maekmun-dong and the name is derived from the appearance of the root.
We left Yeojwacheon Steam and headed to nearby 경화역 벚꽃길 Gyeonghwa Station Cherry Blossom Road. It was made wildly popular during cherry blossom season after the filming of a K-drama here.
Gyeonghwa Station is referred to as a 'world-class' cherry blossom attraction. The railway station originally connected Masan and Jinhae during the Japanese colonial period in 1922-26.
