Spartan Finishers!

"Gritty. Resilient. Passionate. Spartans aren’t soft. Spartans overcome obstacles. And yes, Spartans burpee."
Abe and I got gritty, resilitent, and passionate. We signed up for the Spartan Sprint, which is 3+ miles with 20+ obstacles. Our team, Swolemates, consisted of 12 other gym friends.
The girls and I started training 6 weeks out.  On the day we took this picture a guy was using the sled with 35 pounds. He asked if we needed him to take some weight off for us after he was finished. We said no and after he left we added almost 100 more pounds. #beastmode
We kinda had ourselves psyched out about the race. This tag was included in the race packet and it kinda summed up how we were feeling before:
But that's why we knew we should do it.
Race day!
carpooling
putting on shoe tag
 mwa!
Looking down at the field before race time.
 GoPro or go home!
Look! That's us on the jumbo tron!
 Here are Abe and I.
 It's a little grainy, but here's a close up.
Here's one of 4 or 5 consecutive wall climbs.
They were officially called 'hurdles', but let's not mince words; we climbed those walls, earning every bruise along the way.
I just got over and Hammy is right behind me.
There were many wall climbs throughout the race. The tallest was probably 8 feet.
 Bag carry up the stairs.
We ran lots of stairs and up and down ramps, and then most of the stairs in AT&T Stadium. We climbed a cargo net, carried water jugs, scooted on scooters pulling with our hands, did heavy jump ropes, ball slams, spear toss, climbed walls, carried cement blocks, pulled heavy bags with a rope, rock climbed, more wall climbs, box jumps, army climbed stairs under ropes, more walls, more stairs, rope climb, and finished it all off with monkey bars.
My beast taking the monkey bars like a boss.
Waiting on the team to cross the finish line together.

 Swolemates!
Not the best stats, but we did it.
 Finished!
Notice how I am all red and winded and Abe looks like he's still waiting to start.
My Daiser got all geared up and proclaimed,
"I feel like a finisher!"

vomit + poo = summer!

Total accident that we grabbed the wrong signs…by June 22 we were all a little ragged.
Zekers and Cindy
Daisy and Todd
Since we have year round school that ended last Monday and Kids Kamp (vbs) all last week, today was our first day to sleep in and start our summer break. The dogs woke up at 4:00 am and wanted out but I thought they were going to bark at something so I put them in the garage. The kids woke up at 6:40--not much later than the alarm would have went off. Eli isn't feeling well and vomited. When I went to the garage to get more paper towels to clean the vomit the pungent smell of doggy cha-cha-chas accosted me. Guess that's why they wanted outside at 4 am. Bring on summer!
