Shout Out To The Veterans

The Mighty Cougar Band  supported our veterans by marching in Fort Worth's Annual Veteran's Day Parade. The celebration began more than 100 years ago as an armistice procession through downtown Fort Worth in 1919 to honor those who fought in World War I. Armistice Day was expanded to Veteran's Day to salute all veterans in 1947.

Here comes the Mighty Cougar Band!

March boy, march.

Senior Sentimentality

Was I feeling sentimental and a little sad on senior night? Why yes, yes I was.
Ms. Patty and Cougar Corner made senior baskets for all of the football, volleyball, cheer and dance kids.
Thank goodness I only have one senior at a time.
We have only had two football seasons at WHHS, but I'm going to miss having Zeke in the band.
Before the game the cheer girls all came up to me in the stands.

They game me flowers as a thanks for helping them this season. That about put my tears over the edge.
Shortly after the flowers but before the waterworks really started, this little gem showed up. Haley is one of our youth ministers. We talked and laughed and she helped me to keep the tears at bay.
A few alumni showed up for senior night. You can't really see Zeke, but that's his bass drum.
This was their 'be silly' pose. He and Mattie (the little blonde) is his bass drum partner. She is precious and also my band friend.
There's Daisy on the Jumbotron.
The families lined up and walked to the field together for the halftime presentation.

Here we are, waiting.
There were a lot of senior football players, band, cheer and dance members with their families to honor.
Miss Hinds, Miss Whiddon and Miss Laguna posed with us.
Here is our little DanFam5, soaking up what's left of our time under the same roof. Eli had theatre practice  and then a band party that night. He left one early and went to the other late just for his big brother.
The yearbook account posted us on Insta.
Here are silly seniors,
and here are sentimental seniors.
That's my senior boy with his senior basket.
Because of the halftime senior presentation, the band did not get to perform their final show. So after the game they performed it one last time on the field at our school. Here are my two bigs, performing together in band for the final time. 😓
Once again, we honored the senior band members.
Proud to be this boy's momma.

"There's No Place Like A Traylor," Said The Alien In Jest

Zeke went as a scary jester for Halloween. He also went with his friends this year, so this is the only picture I have of him.
Eli was an alien disguised as a businessman. If you look closely you can see the green showing through patches on his skin.
Daisy chose Dorothy.
Abe and I went as Traylor (Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift).
Chuey was the Rufferee for the Chiefs.
Eli's friends Dylan and Sam joined us for trick-or-treating.
Daisy's friend Sam came, too. And so did Sam's baby.
Before you get all judgmental, I need to explain that Daisy and Sam's Human Growth and Development class is sending babies home with the students. Halloween happened to fall on Sam's time with her baby. The babies have digital monitors in them so they can't be left alone, so Baby went trick-or-treating, too.
Dorothy was kicking her heals.
DanFam5.1, minus Zeke.
Sam's mom Natalie came and she and I walked door to door with the boys.

The apex of the night: checking out their haul.
The alien disguised as a businessman used his brief case as a candy bag.
