Visions of Sugar Plums

My cookie decorating skills are seriously sub-par. My friend Kate invited us up for a tutorial. She has a good recipe, but it is very persnickety; get it frothy, add just a touch of vanilla and lemon juice at a time so it doesn't get too runny. I tend to just dump things in and mix.
The outlining came first with the icing being a tad bit thick.
Then we began filling things in with a bit runnier icing.
Last we added the toppings.
I was hoping to give some away as gifts, but they did not make the cut again this year. Maybe one day I will learn the art of decorating sugar cookies...
On a more positive note, Santa visited us!
Lockheed has a Secret Santa exchange every year. We used to get presents from Santa at the big, fancy family Christmas party, but, Covid. Santa is kind enough to bring the presents straight to our door now.
We really miss our family, especially at the holidays. Having a Korean family helps bridge the gap.
