Don't Get Any Closer... 'Cause You Can't

Abe once told me that as I kept trying to snuggle up closer and closer to him. Apparently my love language is touching, if there is such a category. That's one thing about my kids that I enjoy--they just like being close to me. After I cleaned the shower today, Zeke the Streak jumped in with me and was helping clean the door. As I was showering, he was like a little window cleaner with his squeegee thing. But he just kept going over and over the same places, because, as I said, I was simultaneously taking a shower so it kept getting wet. Now and then he'd say excuse me, he couldn't feel any water. Daisy was right outside the door, putting my underwear that I had just taken off on her head. (Thank goodness I put clean ones on last night and this was the morning, so they weren't too dirty.--Oops. Did I just overshare??) After I finally convinced her to take them off she found Zeke's discarded jammies and put them on instead.

What You Talkin Bout, Willis?

Daisy is into repeating things these days. A lot. Respond to her, ignore her, it makes no difference. On our last road trip she started fussing because her toy lap top bonked her lip. I asked if the computer bit her. She immediately started saying, "Computer bit me. Computer bit me. Mommy, computer bit me. Daddy, computer bit me. Zeke. Zeke! Computer bit me." Thirty second pause--"Computer bit me." Once or twice there was about a 2 minute pause. Thirty-eight. I counted exactly 38 times.

I Got My Sun-On!

In the words of Simon and Garfunkel, "Hello darkness, my old friend." That's right people--I've got a tan and it feels good! We took a family trip to Galveston this weekend. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Galveston beaches, Zeke called it 'sand-mud', but it was the beach, regardless. Notice I didn't call it a family vacation; it was almost down-graded to a business trip. All you parents, you know what I'm talking about. "Let's dig." "Let's jump the waves." "Let's run to the shore." "Let's go to the pool." "Catch me as I jump in the pool." Abe and I were at the little monsters' beck and call.

Bedtime was relentless. The littlest one, who normally goes to bed at 8:00 every night, was the last one to sleep every night more than a few hours after her normal bedtime. Everybody in the same room was far too exciting to sleep. One night she was lying there, repeating me saying, "Shh. Shh. Shh," until Zekers informed her she wasn't the mommy.
All in all, a great vacation. Or great family time. Whatever, we all had fun!
