We wanted to attend a UNT football game with Zekers to support his uni and learn a bit about his collegiate lifestyle.
We started with Zeke's fave burger place, Slappy's.
Then we walked across campus, past the Union,
The University of North Texas was established in 1890. It wasn't until 1913 that the Mean Green football team came to be.
[November 23]I made Daisy strike a pose with the Mean Green Machine, a Ford Model A Tudor Sedan that can be found at sports games and special events.
The student body voted in 1922 to name the Eagle as UNT's mascot. Mean Green Nation affectionately calls him Scrappy.
UNT is the alma mater of the famous defensive player Joe Greene. Whilst he was playing for the Eagles in 1966, the wife of the sports info director yelled, "That's the way, Mean Greene!" after a tackle. The name Mean Green stuck for the uni, and later it stuck for the player Mean Joe Greene, as well. They played a Coca Cola commercial from the 80s where Joe Greene throws his shirt at the kid who offered him a Coke. It brought back memories from a pep rally we did in 8th grade where we did a recreation of that commercial. Instead of throwing our shirt at the kid, our 'Joe' threw a wig (he had a bald cap underneath). Funny the rando things you remember.
DanFam5 was down a man, who did not think that a football game sounded fun to him. You know, it includes people, and a venue that is not the living room.
After varsity victories, green lights shine on campus at McConnell Tower. Unfortunately there were no green lights this night, but the sky did its own beautiful lighting for us. Go Mean Green!
