Friends And Hardware

๐ŸŒŸSenior Prom 2024๐ŸŒŸ
We met his friends at The Modern for pictures.
Cruz, Xavier, Iggy and Zeke
These guys are all theater buddies.
Zeke, Dom, Ella, Xavier, Izzy, Iggy, Cruz and Jack

We couldn't talk Eli into going with us to watch Zeke take prom pictures.
I asked Zeke to take pictures while at prom. This was all I got: one from the limo that they rented,
and this crappy shot.
I snagged another limo pic from Xavier's insta.
Hills announces the senior superlatives at prom. I was so impressed that Zeke was nominated in three different categories! Most musical guy, hardest worker and most likely to succeed. I think that's a W considering there are 212 seniors and he has only been here for two years.
He was disappointed that he did not receive any of the three that he was nominated for by his peers. However, he did receive an Outstanding Senior medal that was given by his teachers. That made his momma proud!
So he went to prom with a good group of friends and left with some hardware.

Lightening

Zekers wrapped up another winter guard season.
Their group grew by several members this year, which was good. But they were brand new, so it was more of a growth year, so not so good for an outgoing senior. But they continued to improve with each performance, which is all you can ask for.
Their performance was choreographed to the song Lightening.
Since Abe and I were attending anyway, we always volunteered to help the floor crew. Each team performing has about three minutes to lay their floor right before the show and pick it up as soon as they're done. There are cues taped to the floor so each team needs their own individualized floor. It is huge and very heavy considering it's just a tarp. There is Zeke in the corner of the picture.
After the performance it's quickly and sloppily picked up and carried to a different area. They it is layed out flat and folded again nicely. There is Abe doing his fair share of the lifting.

Zeke's biggest fans.
Senior day they had some fun head gear.
Zeke, Dom and A'Leena were a team for the solo and ensemble contest, along with a few others who did their own thing,
The three of them choreographed it themselves.
Zeke tried to teach me how to throw and catch the flag. It was hard! And it hurt when the pole hit your hand! Rifles are even harder to catch and throw and hurt even more when you miss.
Winter guard was not on my bingo card for Zeke to participate in before a year ago. I didn't even know winter guard was thing. But he learned it very quickly and is good at it. Just like lightening, he lights up the sky and continues to amaze me.

Rollin' In The Dirt

We had a varsity softball player this year!
This is Daisy high fiving Coach Sutton before her name was announced.
She played right field.

Softball girls are busy cheering the entire game when they are at bat in an effort to distract the pitcher. One chant they sing when there is a bad pitch is, "Rollin in the dirt. Rollin in the dirt. Rollin rollin, rollin rollin. Rollin in the dirt. Dirt dirt dirt. Dirt dirt dirt. Dirt dirt dirt dirt dirt. Dirt dirt dddddiiiirrrtttt."  We heard that chant a lot this season, both from our girls and the other teams.
A lot of girls were walked, on both teams. After getting to first base via balls, Daisy was getting advice from Coach Mo.
She stole 2nd.
And she made it home.
We learned that having a good pitcher in softball makes or breaks the game. One night we set the record for a FWISD game. It was a bit of a dubious honor, as the score was 54 to 53, and it took nearly 6 hours, ending at 12:18am. ๐Ÿ˜ณ
But not all games were like that.
Daisy made it home because she earned her spot on base with a hit!
I love her pure joy.
Daisy's two biggest fans.
Sam and Daisy
The girls made it to playoffs! This was their t-shirt.
And the back:
The season was wrapped up with a banquet.
DanFam5 was there to support our Daisy.
Coach Mo, Coach V and Coach Sutton
Daisy received an Academic All District Award for having straight As while playing softball.
We're so proud of our Daiser!
