Love In The Duluxe Apartment

Several years ago Abe and I decided we didn't want to get a babysitter to go to an overly crowded restaurant for an overly high priced for a meal on Valentine's Day. Instead we treated our kiddos to a 'fancy' meal at home. They had a candlelit meal with drinks in champagne glasses brought by their 'servers' and thought it was the best thing ever.
The tradition has continued, but it has relaxed a bit. No more pretend restaurant. But the love is still there and the kids still feel special.
Well, I guess we got out the wine glasses for our sparkling juice drink, so that was a little like the days of old.
My Daisy is so sweet. She bought everyone a little gift, even though she knew no one else (but me) bought her a treat.
💗 She even made special cards for each of us. 💗
After all these years, it is still my brother's birthday, that just happens to be Valentine's Day.

Going Down The Tubes - Guemosan Land, Hadong

The snow doesn't make it as far south as we live, so we had to travel a short way to find a snowy sledding hill. On your mark, get set, GO!
The hill is not very big, but it was still long enough to get some speed.
There is turf at the bottom to slow you down and stop you.
Or people.
The family that tubes together stays together.
As soon as we stepped foot out of the car we heard a sweet little voice call, "ELI!" It was his classmte Allison and some friends from school. That's Mr. Cates and his wife Soon with DanFam5.
Naturally we played on the tiny little snow hill, throwing a few snowballs.
(We did not create this, but I thought it was cute.)
Abe climbed into a tiny little igloo.
This little boy that it was the most intriguing thing to see a big grown up in a tiny little igloo. He just sat there and looked at Abe for several minutes.
It makes my heart happy when we do family things together.

Winter Exploring - Sangjogam County Park

Another beautiful day to explore with Chuey. I have been wanting to walk along the shore in 상족암 Sangjogam Park, where there are over 3,000 dinosaur prints.
We got up to the boardwalk, where the prints start, when we saw the sign. No pets allowed.
So we turned around and walked the other direction.
These rocks are called columnar joints. They are formed when hot magma cools and contracts. Regular shrinkage cracks produce long hexagonal-sided columns, perpendicular to the cooling surface. Sometimes they are nicknamed folding screen rocks.
Koreans really encourage being outdoors and hiking, so they create things like this little observation deck.
Across the bay, where we wanted to walk, are the dino prints and the dinosaur museum. You can see the large brontosaurus statue facing the building.
This is the view looking out toward the ocean. I think that island is Saryangdo.
No one was out there with us, so Chuey got to explore sans leash.
We climbed below the bridge along the shore.
In my mind, rocks formed by lava look like the surface of the moon. I know pictures from the 1969 moon landing show it being dusty, but my mind says otherwise.
We went off-trail on the way back and came across this family grave site. This family obviously has some money.
Here is the view they chose for their loved ones.
Most family plots are much more simple, like this one.
When Chuey walks without a leash she will wander off the path for a short bit. But she does NOT want to be left behind!
Look how someone placed these cool shells on the rocks. The neat thing is that everyone just leaves them there for others to enjoy.
