Family Pics Take Two
We gave our family photos one last shot. The only wet-e-ness (as Daisy says) this time was our own sweat. It was 108 degrees. Seriously. My sweet photog friend agreed to do it in August since the next time available was in September. As awesome as my husband is, I know it was by the skin of my teeth I got him to agree to a 2nd photo session, but I knew I was more than pushing my luck to ask him to do it during football season.

Zeke is an Official Kindergartener
This dreadful day came and went. I'm so glad to say that Zeke had a fantastic time! When it was over he told me he was having too much fun to remember the things I was asking him.
Zeke and his teacher, Mrs. Gilder.
Here he is already hard at work as I was walking out the door.
After school he had some business to take care of the minute we walked in:
One day down, 179 to go, and 12 more years. It will be here before I know it.

Little Nuggets of Advice
Little people are a bit like God. If you slow down and listen, you'll glean some good advice.
Scenerio 1:
Daisy walked over to Frito Pie, who was lying on the floor sleeping, and told me our doggy was thinking. When I asked what she was thinking about The Daise answered, "Jesus."
Lesson: Trash in, trash out; good stuff in, good stuff out.
Scenerio 2:
Zekers was talking to his sister. "Boys like girls because they look pretty. Daisy, you look pretty today."
Lesson: Girlfriends, take time for yourself so you feel 'pretty, and witty, and gay.' The boys will like you. (Yeah, I know. Now that annoying song is stuck in your head.) Guys, tell your girl she looks pretty.
Scenerio 3:
Zeke and I were reading and the word immortal came up. I explained it to him. He quickly said he was immortal, and for a second I thought he totally didn't get what I had just said. Then he explained it for me, very eloquently-- "I'm living here now, and when I die I'll live forever in heaven."
Lesson: Accept Jesus as your savior and you'll be cool and immortal, kinda like those Twilight people, except not like a vampire. And heaven is for real.
Scenerio 4:
A good bra can be used for much more than just containing The Girls.
Lesson: Think out of the box-- enjoy the unexpected!

Tissue, Please
Zeke and I were discussing school tonight before bed. He is starting to sound out words, but doesn't think he can learn sight words. I was trying to reassure him by telling him I taught a lot of kids to read when I was a teacher and I will help him, too. He said he didn't know I was a teacher before I was a mommy. I told him I really enjoyed teaching, but I liked being his mommy a whole lot more. "I like being your son, too." Oh, yeah. Instant tears. Seriously, am I really expected not to cry next week when my little buddy, my constant companion, the one I have spent the most time with for the last 5 years gets ripped from my arms?
It's been a good ride, my little friend.

Introducing Frito Pie!
I would like to introduce the newest member of the Daniels' Family...Frito Pie!
Yes, I have to agree with you. She's not pretty or even cute. U-G-L-Y she ain't got no alibi. Have another look.
But here's the deal. She's the sweetest dog ever. Ideally we wanted a puppy, but Frito Pie is a rescue dog who has been a foster puppy. I say puppy, but she's 2 1/2 years old. We discovered immediately upon bringing her home that there are lots of benefits to getting an experienced doggy. She's potty trained, up-to-date on shots, spayed, microchipped, attended obedience school, doesn't get on furniture and doesn't beg for food. Occasionally there may be some toys and things left on the floor from 1, 2, or all 3 kids, and she doesn't even chew them. Not a bad deal, all in all.

The first night the kids wanted to sleep with her. She got up and left her bed--I have no idea why.
She has been waiting for a 'furever' family to love her, and I think we're it.

Solid As A Rock
Abraham and I just celebrated our 8th anniversary, and our marriage is solid as a rock. And concrete. Eight years is the concrete anniversary, right? That's what we read on Wikipedia, anyway, which is why we chose to buy each other sidewalks this year.
I have always wanted a wrap-around porch, but since our house is not conducive to that, I got a wrap-around sidewalk instead. The back was already done, so we just finished the front. It looks fantastic and it's so user-friendly!

Houston, We Have A Problem
After I wiped Daisy's sweet little tushie and she was still on the toilet....
Daisy: It's not all out.
Me: So get it all out.
Daisy: But it won't come out.
Me: So don't go any more.
A moment of silence.
Daisy: We have a problem here, Mommy.
