All-Daisy All-District

The Lady Cougars had an exciting softball season this year.
Softball kicks off in January, right in the middle of soccer and basketball, which means cheer. All three sports want the girls to commit to them, which is understandable. And she threw tennis in there, too. It was quite stressful for Daisy at one point.
But things came to a close and she made it through.
She started in right field.
She was later moved to first base when some of the girls became ineligible do to poor grades.
She hit a double!
Comin' into home.
At one of the home games the team thanked Cougar Corner for all they do for the team. Sometimes I help so they told me to get out there for the picture, too.
{insert announcer voice} ...And at first base, number 16, Daisy Dannniellllssss!
That's her at bat, and this is her ball that she threw out during the line-up announcement.
Haley, our youth pastor, came to watch our Daisy play.
Hit it, girl!
There's our little first baseman. She didn't want to play first base, but she did a great job. She caught passes to make kits of outs, caught some pop flies and stopped some grounders.
Another score!
Look at this--she made player of the game!
The girls and Coach Sutton played together during the school-wide dodgeball tournament.
Coach Aman was the head coach this year. She was very supportive of the girls.
Coach organized a few bonding activities, including a water day during a bye week.
One game, the only one we were not able to attend, she got hit in the mouth with the ball. It's probably better that I wasn't there to see it. I would say she's lucky to walk away with all of her teeth. Apparently there was a bit of blood. But she walked it off like a champ and got back out there.
The Lady Cougars made it to the playoffs!
Once again, her biggest fans were there to cheer her and the Lady Cougars on.
Daisy's teammates voted for her to receive the Cougar Pride Never Dies Award.
Not surprisingly, she earned an All-District Academic award.
Check this out--she also made second team all-district!!! This is the girl who never picked up a bat or a glove until freshman year. And this momma is so proud.

Our Daiser was also a Western Hills finalist for junior athlete girl of the year. She did not win the award, but what an honor to be recognized by the coaches. 😊

An Alternative Easter

Easter looked a little different this year because Zeke and Daisy have a summer job lined up--yay! Training was three days over Easter weekend, including Easter morning--boo! So Abe, Eli and I took Grannie to Easter service at church and then out to lunch while the bigs trained on Sunday.

Daisy and Zeke were scheduled to train from 8:30am to 9:00pm both Saturday and Sunday. I had to drive Zeke back to school on Sunday night, so I decided to have their egg hunt Saturday evening after work.

They always get a dozen special eggs just for them in their room. I hide those really hard and it usually takes a few days or even a few weeks for the final egg or two to show up.
They got an Easter basket.
This picture was taken in 2011, for my littlest baby's first Easter.
Here he is in the basket, 14 Easters later.
We were babysitting Waffles over the weekend. I tried to hide an egg on her back, but she wasn't too excited about it.
We also have a free-for-all hunt in the living room. On your mark, get set...
go!
I'm glad my kids still humor me by hunting eggs.
