Celebrating DanFam5 Love

Daisy and I started our Valentine's afternoon by getting her learner's permit to drive.
I'm not terrified. Not at all. 😱
We actually had all 5 of us home for dinner this year. The kids always get to pick dinner. This year they asked for hamburgers on buns. Poor little things usually just get plain hamburgers without buns. They are so deprived.

As always, happy heavenly birthday to my brother.

(Two)UIL

Two Saturdays in a row Eli earned back-to-back UIL awards. One could call it a (T)UIL.

The first weekend he participated in the solo band contest. He played the marimba.
That boy was super nervous, but he pulled out a gold medal!
The next Saturday he participated in the One Act Play competition with his advanced theatre class.
He tried his hand on the technical team this time, running the spotlight.
Before the show the group does warm ups. Right after warm ups they had a time of compliments, where they freely gave encouraging words to each other. It was sweet.
Here is Eli in work mode, setting up the light before the show.

Six schools competed. At the end of the long day (we were there for  more than 7 hours!) the judges give out awards. Our tech team won the award for Outsanding Technical Team!
The top three teams get to go on to compete against the top three teams from another league in two weeks. We made the cut!
I'm proud of my little boy for stepping out of his comfort zone and working hard for his team.

Paws & Applause

High school parents received an email inviting us to a special ceremony for students that were on the A/AB honor roll and a few other  honors for first semester. This was the first time ever for this special ceremony, so the faculty decided to keep  it a secret from the students and surprise them the day of.
The kids had no idea why they were being called out of class. As Daisy was entering the auditorium we were, too. She was all, "Why are you here?" Once they entered it was a big party atmosphere.

After the ceremony there were snacks.
We sure are proud of these kids and their hard work!
