My Korean time was quickly coming to an abrupt halt, but I wasn't going to go home without squeezing in every last adventure possible. Zeke had experienced the longest zip wire in Korea, but I had not gotten the chance. Not yet, anyway.
Rain was in the forecast for the last 10 days of our time. It almost derailed a couple day trips, but we went regardless of the mist, fog, wind and rain. Unfortunately the zip line
did care about mist, fog, wind and rain. But finally there was a break in the elements and I jumped on it!
Linda, Naomi and Susie joined us, but Lijee, Linda, and Naomi were just along for the Fly Away Cable Car. It offers 2,556 meters of a bird's eye view of the 다도해 Dadohae islets of 한려해상 Hallyeohaesang National Park and 그모산 Geumosan Mountain.
Us zippers were given our equipment and sent up the hill on a bus.
Although we had reservations we still had to wait a bit. Fortunately, our cable-riding family made it to the top while we were still awaiting our turn. It was a sweet surprise to meet on the Sky Walk.
I think this is the light I can see glowing at the top of this mountain from out apartment at night.
The big one below the moon is Geumosan.
We started our descent from the top of Geumosan at 849m above sea level.
The website brags that this is the longest zip wire in Asia. However, there is another website about a different zip wire that also makes that claim so I think this one has been outdone since it was first built in 2017. This particular line is 3.186km long and sent us down the mountain at speeds up to 120km per hour.
Here I go down at a 27% angle. Not sure if I acually traveled at 120km per hour, but it was fast and the view was spectacular.
We got to ride 4 different lines to get to the bottom. Maybe that's the discrepancy with the longest wire in Asia--maybe it's not the longest of the four, but the four combined.
Look at that view of 다도해 Dadohae National Marine Park archipelago!
That's Daisy in front of us, getting ready to go down the 3rd wire.
This is where we crossed paths with the cable car.
The last line was a short one, so they gave us a parachute to slow us down.
My biggy boo-boo, relaxing with a cool drink after the big day.
