Our plan this summer was to hit a big amusement park in Seoul. We tried the big one in Daegu as soon as school was out and the rain hindered our activity. Seoul wasn't working, so we decided to go back to Robot Land again! As we entered Robot Square we were greeted by this 13 meter guy.
Robot Land spans 1.25 million square meters (about 150 football fields). It took 10 years to complete, opening in 2019. It boasts being the world's first robot-themed robot destination. The Ministry of Knowledge Economy (Commerce, Industry & Energy) first presented the idea for a robot theme park as part of a larger plan to stimulate Korea's robotic industry by generating public interest in consumer robots. And I thought it was just for fun.
Inside Robot Land there are 22 rides, 11 experiential facilities (although most were closed because, Covid), and about 250 robots that possess various abilities claiming to range from precision assembly to classical dance. However, we just saw the robots frozen in a pose without displaying their various abilities.
We started to conquer the 22 rides with the Steam Bumper. They bumped hard!
The Rockin Tug is like the gator ride at Six Flags.
Aren't they cute in their matching shirts? Can you guess which fashion-conscious/type A/organized child orchestrated that?
You cannot avoid getting wet on the Splash Chute Ride.
The locals wear rain coats on this ride.
The Sky Tower ascends 65m and then drops at a speed of 82km an hour. It's like Six Flags' Superman ride.
The suspense at the top nearly kills me every time because you know it's gonna fall any minute, but it's super slow to do so.
Junk Art is a combination of exactly what it says, junk coming together to make art.
There are several works of junk art throughout the park.
The Thunderbolt, traveling at 90 km/hour, is Zeke, Daisy and my favorite ride! Eli took pictures and that's actually us (and only us) in the front car. The English words they use for roller coaster is high speed train.
The Mini-Sky Tower is a tiny version of the big one, but we rode it several times because even though it's small, it's still fun.
This is called Power Surge.
If we could have understood, we would have known this was a robot fairy tale where robots have turned into fairy tale characters. We could tell that there were elements from Alice in Wonderland.
We went into the Robot Fantasy building. There was a marionette performance done about Don Quixote, orchastrated robotically with a cool digital movie in the background.
The Wing of Cosmos was a 4-D ride that took us into outer space to the planet Gaia .
Eli's favorite ride at all amusement parks was called Captain Roko in Robot Land. It is the big pirate ship.

The Forest Adventure was a little kid ride, but we did it anyway.
Daisy and I sat out on the Tea Party. Sadly, circles are starting to not sit well with me.
We felt obligated to ride the Rosha and Friends Carousel before we left.
That sums up our day at Robot Land!
