Climbing The Walls - Big Climb, Jinju

Another summer day, another fun summer activity!

We met some friends and decided to check out Korean rock climbing.

I have grown accustomed to taking off shoes upon entering houses, and I kind of like it. It actually feels cleaner. I still have to sweep all the time, but I think the dogs are responsible for bringing in a large portion of the dirt. Anyway, I still feel a little odd taking off shoes at businesses.  It's not all businesses; I would say it's by far less businesses that still require you to do it, and of those it's mostly restaurants.

Before we could walk into the rock climbing establishment, we had to take off our shoes and put on slide-ons that they provided. We walked literally 40 steps to another shoe rack and switched our slides for a pair of special rock climbing shoes.
The establishment was on one level so you only climb to the ceiling. Don't get me wrong--it's still challenging, but no need for a harness.

The employees were very nice. They walked us through a warm up. As you can see, our expat friends were the only people there. The Koreans are still in school so we have had establishments to ourselves. It has been very nice to not have lines when we go places! It has also been nice not to have to worry about crowds and covid.
GO!
The guy also gave the kids climbing tips. Then he walked them through a task of using only grips with orange tape. Daisy made it to the top!
Of course Zeke scrambled up like a little monkey.
We had to rush away in the middle to go check on Frito at the vet. But we were able to join the gang for ice cream!

Celebrating America in Korea - Sangju Eunmaeri Bichi, Namhae

Zeke is still (kinda) doing scouts here with another family, so the guys had a camping trip at the beach.
That's Zeke in the canoe in the back.
A couple expat families are heading home soon, so the LM family had a going away/July 4th party at Silver Sand Beach in Namhae. It worked out that our scouts camped at the same beach so they could reserve our campsite for the day.
It was a lovely afternoon with lots of friends to play with, converse with, and eat with.
Zeke and his friends played football and swam.
Daisy went swimming and hunted crabs.
Lijee swam and played in the sand.
Abe and I loved on each other.
 I talked and ate.
Abe stood there and looked good.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the day with friends.
Daisy and Susie even made matching tie dies for the occasion.
Matthieu took headshots of everyone. He did a great job of capturing my peeps.
The scouts camped two nights. Abe drove our car so I rode with someone. We left early, but Zeke and Abe got to do fireworks on the beach.
Missing our friends and family in America, but loving our time here.
