Zombie Apocalypse!

For Christmas DanFam5 received a family adventure--a Zombie Apocalypse Treasure Hunt. About the time I was searching our calendar for a good time with no conflicts, which was not an easy task, little Lijee broke his foot. Since there was a lot of walking involved I scheduled it for March.

It was a beautiful spring day! We loaded DanFam5.2 in the Swag Wag and headed downtown to Sundance Square.

 The premise of the game was to accomplish as many zombie related tasks from a list in an hour as we could. The game was an app that required photos or videos to prove we did the requirements. Here we are, in public,  doing these aforementioned zombie tasks:

•zombie in a cage

 •securing supplies

 •getting bitten

 •getting more water

 •hiding

 •finding radio contact

 •infected

 •an attack

 •warning strangers of an attack

 •grabbing a stick to fight them off

 We made enough points to escape the zombies! We ranked #18 out of a couple hundred. Yay us!!

The Bible in 30 Minutes

Zekers and Daisy are involved in Stage Right at church, which is a theatre class. Each week they work on different skills and listen to 'experts' share advice on acting. This all culminates in a production each spring.

This year the piece was "The Bible in 30 Minutes...Or Less." It was a cute little comedy that walked us through the whole bible.

Here is pre-show pep talk and prayer.

"Oh, how cute!" exclaimed the Pharoah's daughter as she skipped out and found Baby Moses. I'm not sure why I didn't get a picture of that because Daisy delivered it perfectly. :/ But I did get a picture of her dragging Joseph to jail.

Robber: This is a stick-up. Give me all your money.
Zeke: But we haven't invented money yet.
Robber: Oh. Right. Give me all your sheep then.

Grannie rarely misses a performance (and between all three kids, there are a LOT of performances).

Christ Chapel Children's Music Ministry has been a valuable piece of our lives these past 6 years. It started when Daisy was in kinder with her first musical of Donkey Tales. Collectively, all 3 kids have had solos, drama parts, special choreography parts and played hand bells through MusicPraise, MusiCamp, Acclaim, Stage Right and Youth Bells. I have been fortunate enough to get to join them by volunteering through it all. We have learned singing, dancing, drama, and hand bells all while praising God and giving Him the glory. It's been a sweet ride! 

Thanks to Mrs. Yana, or leader and all the many other volunteers.

 After special performances we always sneak on down to the DQ and celebrate with a treat.

Sew Much Fun!

Daisy likes to receive adventures as gifts for us to do together. This Christmas is was a sewing class! 

Daisy has been wanting to learn to sew for awhile now. I haven't sat at a sewing machine since Home Ec. I just celebrated my 30th class reunion, so clearly it's been a few years. I found a sewing class and thought it would be fun.

We started with the basics. Threading the machine, winding a bobbin, loading the bobbin, taking on and off the foot, etc.

 Then it was finally time to let 'er rip! Not the stitches. We didn't need to rip out our stitches.

 We sewed paper. First we did straight lines and corners. Then we added in a backstitch. After that we graduated to curvy lines. I was better at the straight lines while Daisy was better at the curvy ones.

On our way to the car Daisy declared that it was a fun experience, but she did not like it for a hobby. Glad I bought a class and not a machine.

I love our little adventures together!

Saved By Grace

Last August Lijee decided he was ready to get baptized. He knew he would get a grown up bible like Zeke and Daisy, which was part of the motivation. But he also knew he was ready to let the world know that Jesus is his savior.

We had to wait a long time for a children's baptism class. But the time finally arrived. He was proud to let us know that everyone (our family, Gramma & Grampa and Grannie) was at church just for him.

 This was the day Eli was 'going public.'

 Here is the pre-ceremony, where the kids were getting briefed on how it was going to go down.

 At the beginning the kiddos turned around to wave at everyone. This little girl named Avery was also in Lijee's kinder/1st grade class at school...goofballs.

 Before the actual baptisms, the candidates went to their individual families for prayer time.

 Each child was interviewed before hand, introducing themselves and adding whatever they wanted to add. Eli kept to the bare minimum. "My name is Eli and I'm 8 years old. I'm getting baptized to show the world I accepted Christ as my savior."

 Finally the moment arrived.

 He is agreeing that yes, he has asked Jesus to be his savior.

 Our church does total emersion to emulate Christ's death and resurrection; going under the water like  Jesus was in the tomb, then coming up again just as Jesus rose from the grave. Plus Jesus himself was immersed and if it worked for Jesus, it works for us!

 Done!

 Elijah got to choose where we went to eat. He opted for pancakes (even though it was the middle of the afternoon), so we went to IHOP.

Daisy was giving Grampa a run for his money when it came to teasing.

Finally I got everyone together to take a few pictures.

 His very own bible that he has been waiting and waiting for!

{This post is a week late. Eli has been making sure we read our bibles when I tuck them in. He asked, "Can I have the honors of getting my bible out of the box and putting it away?" He is enjoying highlighting some of my favorite passages that I suggest. Tonight he said, "That one speaks to me; I'll highlight it." Love him!}

 Gramma gave Lijee a cross from Uncle Steve. She had given one to Zeke and Daisy when they were baptized. I am so thankful that after he passed she thought ahead to save one for this moment. It makes my heart happy that Steve is still a part of Eli's special day.

Steve would be proud to know she did that.

Of course Grannie was there to celebrate with us.

 So glad Mom and Dad made it down here. It was a wonderful weekend.

 I always knew I wanted kids, but had no idea how much I would love them.
