Going Bananas
When our pirate ship started sinking, me first mate and I swam ashore. I said arr, matey, grab me a coconut and Zekers said he couldn't get it down. Daddy suggested he grab me a banana instead. Then Daisy took off running around the corner. A minute later she came back and said, "Here, Mommy," and handed me a real banana from the kitchen.Shiver me timbers!

Zeke's Gumball Party!
Zeke was in charge of planning his party this year. He chose the theme and the guests. He wanted to have a gumball party with a bounce house. You may be asking yourself what is a gumball party, which is what I asked. Don't know if there is such a thing, so we invited his best buds and winged it. Helping decorate the gumballs for the cake.
Some birthday bouncing. The gumball machine cake was so much cuter in my head. Make a wish! Let them eat cupcakes. Opening pressies with a little help from his friends. Happy 4th birthday, Zekers!

Jammy Jumping
On Saturday morning the bounce house guy showed promptly at 10:00, as planned. Except I thought the plan was for Sunday. Apparently I wrote Sunday, but put Saturday's date--oopsies! It ended up being a blessing and we got to keep the bounce house for Zeke's birthday party for 2 days! (The guy was so nice, here's a plug for him. You can see the number below. He comes highly recommended. Tell him the idiot who wrote the wrong date sent you. You won't get a discount, but I will feel better about my mistake.) After we had been jumping all afternoon, we were lying in the bounce house resting and enjoying the sunshine. Then I got a great idea--how fun it would be to camp out in it! I mean really, how often do you get to keep a bounce house overnight? Zekers and I took full advantage! We got on our warmest jammies, sweatshirts, and socks and grabbed an arsenal of books, blankets, and a flashlight. He's not karaoke-ing, he's making scary noises whilst shining the flashlight at his face. At night you notice something about bounce houses you don't during the day. Fresh air is being blown in, and when it's 40 or 50 degrees outside, the air underneath you is cold! And it comes up through the seams in an Arctic blast! We made it until after midnight, when Daddy came to rescue us from frostbite. But first thing in the morning, we were back at it to do some jammy jumping! Did you hear Daisy yell "Help!" to Zeke to get her in?

My Little Chef
Ezekiel finally spent some of his saved money on a gift for himself. He picked out...{drumroll}...cupcake holders! That's right, folks, I said cupcake holders. I feel the need to defend him a bit. We were at Bed, Bath & Beyond and the box was brightly colored with bear, turtle and fish cakes. And it said 'puzzle cupcake holders.' Two of his favorite things, all rolled into one! Who could resist that??
He helped bake and frost it, but he added the decorations all by himself.
Ta Da!
Yummy! As good as it looks.

*addendum
A few entries ago I shared how Zekers called me old. I felt a whole lot better after this conversation. I showed him a picture of a friend's son and told Zeke the boy was 3 years old, just like him. He looked him over and asked, "I wonder if he feels old being the same as me?" It's good to know that not only am I old in my son's eyes, but so is a three-year-old.

Bon Appetit
As I was unbuckling Daisy from her car seat, I saw something stuck between her front teeth. I asked her what was in her mouth. "Boogie," she answered. Sure enough. A big, fat, sticky, green booger. I didn't have a tissue so I did what any mom would do; I dug it out and wiped it on her pants cuff.
