Weeeelllll, We Did It

I could have waited, no would rather have waited this whole lifetime to admit this, but here goes: I am now the (not so) proud owner of a minivan. I gradually did the transition from Mini Cooper to minivan. The days when someone might see me in my car and think, "That girl lookin' fly like a G6," are now replaced with, "There's an old soccer mom in a big ol' van." And my kids don't even play soccer.

Swagger wagon my butt...

Man Of The House

Daddy's been out of town, so Zeke stepped up to the plate. A screw fell out of the train table. He went to the garage and got himself a screwdriver, went to his room to get his dinosaur flashlight and got busy. Assessing the situation.

In the thick of it. Getting down and dirty. Daisy helping shine her flashlight. That pesky top just had to get out of the way. Mommy's proud of her little man!

Mommy Stands Corrected

Zeke got a sliver in his foot. He took it out himself and told me it was bleeding. I checked it out, then hugged him and kissed his cheek. "I'm afraid that's not where it hurts," he informed me. Here is where the sliver was.

The little one set me straight, as well. Daisy and I were making brownies for a Christmas party. I asked her to keep her fingers out because it was for other people. She then informed me, "We're peoples, too."

The Villian

I love post-Halloween sales! We got both costumes for under $4 total. Zeke's is a ninja. After we got it on he asked, "Do I look villiany?"

"I like Where I Am"

Last night Zeke told me, "I like where I am." I asked him to give me some more details. "When I was a baby and God put me in this world, I'm glad he put me here in this life. I like where I am," he explained. Not only did that fill me with joy that he is happy with his life, but that he knows God is his creator. :)

On a totally separate note, my girly-girl has a bit of tomboy in her. We found an old pair of Zeke's Spiderman tennis shoes in my closet and she wanted to wear them. "These are kinda cool," she admired after they were on. I said yeah, but they're kind of boy. She replied, "But they're kinda cool."

Fight Club

The kids' newest sport: fight club. They gear up and say, "Let's fight!"
(This particular day they played with their new dry erase markers unsupervised. Coloring the face is not a habit nor is it required for Fight Club.)

"Howdy, Ya'll!"

That's Big Tex, the Paul Bunyun of the Texas State Fair, talk for "Hey, Guys!"
Cheese!
Zekers wanted to do the Fun House, which ended in a slide.
Daisy wasn't about to be left behind, but she needed a little company.
Cotton candy...mmmm.
Carni food...the #1 reason I go to the fair.
Doing a little planting.
Rock climbing.
Ya'll come back now, ya hear!

The American Dream

A home in the suburbs, 2.5 kids, and we are even thinking of getting a dog--we've got it all! Just missing the white picket fence.
My boy and one of his favorite pasttimes: video games.

My girly-girl on a shopping trip with her baby and her purse (of course her cell phone and the baby bottle are in the purse).

And here is the .5 making its presence quite known at negative 4 months, or 24 weeks in medical jargon.

Chivalry Is Not Dead

The kids and I were exploring and we got to the entrance of a tunnel with a lot of junk in it. Zekers was going to go first, but backed up and said ladies and girls first, boys next. Melted his momma's heart...until his next comment. "I said that because I was a little scared to go in there."

Mommy in the Making

Daisy loves her babies. She had one in the buggy, and Zeke pulled a typical big brother. He got the buggy and ran it around the house very fast. When Daisy finally rescued her baby she bent down and sweetly asked it, "What's wrong? Did Zeke hurt you?" Lil' Mommy even gives the paper skeleton a buggy ride.

Tuesdays With Morrie; Wednesdays With Trish

After the bath I was trimming my toenails. Naturally I had an audience--all things are done with an audience of 2. Daisy was sitting on the floor so near she couldn't get any closer. She repeated about 4 times, "Can I watch? Can I watch? Can I watch?" She clearly was watching, but since she kept repeating herself, I finally said yes, she could watch. Immediately her head went down within an inch of my toenail and she commmenced watching. I stand corrected; she could get closer.
Then Zeke had my tweezers. I asked him to be careful with those because they were my favorite pair. I went on to explain that Daddy doesn't like my favorite pair, and I don't like his favorite pair. Zeke then thought aloud, a little condescending if I may say, "I guess they don't like to share."

Pre-K Today, College Tomorrow

My baby Zekers went to pre-k this week. Yes, I cried, but not until Daisy and I left the building.
Here is the family on meet the teacher night.
My boy before we left the house.
This is getting settled into his room.

He loved it. Yay!

That's One Big A** Spider!

As we were sitting at the table eating lunch, Zeke casually tells me, "There's a spider down there." I almost ignored it since spiders eat bugs, but then thought it might be a black widow or brown recluse, so I better check it out. Holy crap! There was a HUGE wolf spider--right there in my kitchen! After some internet research to be sure that monstrosity was indeed a wolf spider, we took it outside to the end of the cul-de-sac (translation: far from our house) to let it go. I think it was pregnant, and in my current condition I felt for her. That is a quarter beside the beast, to help you see how big she is.

Come On, Lucky 7!

'Mawaige is what bwings us togevuh today.'

At least it did 7 years ago. I am truly blessed to have such a fantastic man for a husband. Huge shout out to my Mom and Dad for watching the kids all weekend so Abe and I could spend the weekend *alone* celebrating our 7th anniversary in Santa Fe. Being knocked up and all, we didn't do a whole lot of anything except relaxing. It was a great weekend. We did a 'Death By Chocolate' tour. Even I had too much chocolate by the end, which I thought could never be done. Here are the Happy Campers, who camped in our driveway all weekend. Thanks, Grandma & Grandpa and Koko, for giving the kids a fantastic weekend. And us, too!

Where Are Those Ruby Slippers?

It may be time to move back home. This realization hit as I was reading a vitamin label out loud. Zeke asked if he could have 'urn.' I was stumped for a minute; what the heck is 'urn?' To my utter dismay I realized I had read 'iron.' Oh my gosh, ya'll, have I developed a Texas twang??
