Crisis diverted

Everything was going great in the Daniels' household for the first 2 weeks. Adding a second baby was child's play. Of course my Mom and nieces were here for the first week and then Abe took his paternity leave the 2nd week. On Daisy's 15th day it all hit the fan. Things were going like a well oiled machine until Zeke cut his finger. I was feeding Daisy at the time of injury; I pulled away from her and rushed Zeke to the sink. I was fairly certain that the cut was minuscule, but it kept bleeding profusely and wouldn't stop. At the same time Daisy was crying profusely and wouldn't stop. I brought Zeke to the bed on my lap, and whilst applying pressure to the wounded digit I grabbed Daisy with one arm and manhandled her into the football hold. Finally Daisy stopped eating and crying long enough for me to assess the finger situation. After about 30 minutes the bleeding stopped; the cut wasn't even .5 cm long. We got it bandaged and eventually everyone got to bed (eventually meaning a couple hours late). Like I said, this 2 kid thing is child's play...

Introducing Daisy Francesca

God has blessed us with a precious little girl!

And here's the story...my doctor scheduled me for a c-section since Zeke was an emergency section. He said the risk was not worth it. I happen to like spontaneity and was a little disappointed that my child's birth date was chosen by a random nurse, down to the time of birth. But what are you going to do? Plus my Mom and nieces were coming from Kansas so it was nice for them to know the day and be here in time to help with Zeke. And of course my type A husband was thrilled to know the day and time--you can probably find his 'to do' list for Friday somewhere with "child's birth, 7:30 am" crossed off. I was hoping for a surprise the week before, but nothing happened. Then my prayers were answered--I started having contractions on Thursday night! I wanted my baby to pick her birth day and I wanted to go through the early stages of labor to get the whole pregnant experience. So I was ecstatic! A little odd since it hurts to have contractions, but it was very exciting for me. The contractions kept getting closer and closer throughout the night, but we drove to the hospital for our 5 am appointment with contractions about 5 minutes apart. So my baby got to choose her own birthday after all!

She is a precious little thing! Zekers is a fantastic big brother.

Daisy was born at 7:36 a.m. on Friday, May 30th. She was 7 pounds, 15.5 ounces and was 19.25 inches tall with a head full of beautiful dark hair.
